SP Dynamo makes low-friction, lightweight hubs that are a cult favourite with city cyclists, bicycle tourists, and mountain bikers. For a price very comparable to Shimano, SP makes hubs made of alloy - not steel - and use a lower friction dynamo that doesn't cut down efficiency, especially important for loaded bicycle touring.
