E-bikes are taking the world by storm, and for good reason - they provide mobility for people who aren't held hostage by high gas prices or endless lease payments. The Devinci E-Milano was designed with urban mobility in mind and is well-equipped to take on anything from grocery runs to long-haul weekend adventures.

Built with Shimano's E5000 e-bike system, the E-Milano can travel up to 185km on a single 418W battery charge and kicks out an impressive 40 Nm of torque from a 250W mid-drive motor. The aluminum frame features a front suspension fork to absorb road shock from badly-paved streets and rough rail trails, while the 8-speed derailleur provides you all the climbing power and speed you'll need for city riding. Internal cable routing keeps things clean and functional and a step-thru frame makes climbing on and off easy, even with a fully-loaded (optional) rear rack.

Whether you're looking for a little help on your ride or to go farther than you imagined, you're in good hands with the Devinci E-Milano E5000.

Whats all this talk about 1x or one-by gear systems?

A 1x system simplifies things by using only one chainring up front while using a wide-range of cogs in the back. You don’t get the same climbing-range as a 2x or 3x system, but the argument is that many people don’t use those gears (unless they’re mountain bike or doing loaded touring), so why add the weight and complication? It’s a good argument, and it makes the gears more linear and low maintenance.

Can I ride this bike in the city?

This bike was made for city riding! Being from Quebec, Devinci knows the urban Canadian cyclist very well. Unlike many other hybrids on the market, Devinci makes bikes that are as great for recreational rides as they are for inner-city use. Compared to their competition, a Devinci’s frame and wheels are stronger, many parts are rust-resistant, and the tires feature a puncture resistant Kevlar layer.

What’s the deal with disc brakes?

Disc brakes are awesome, here’s why: (1) because they stop the bike close to the center of the wheels rotation you get significantly more power, (2) unlike rim brakes, they sit high above puddles so braking performance is consistent in (most) weather, (3) they require less tuning and the pads last longer. They add a bit of weight, but it’s good weight!

How is this bike for longer rides on city paths or country rides?

Unless you’re a speed demon, this bike is terrifically efficient. The wider tires may slow you down a bit but then, they’re terrific if you find yourself on gravel. However, if you’re weighing the bike down with lots camping gear for overnight trips we would recommend a 2x or 3x gear system rather than the more city-oriented 1x.

This bike is aluminum, will it dent easily?

Nope! Devinci is Canadian and the city cyclist is well on their radar. Whereas most hybrid bikes are made for Sunday rides and stops at the ice-cream stand, Devinci’s feature a tough frame that can be locked next to steel poles all day while you’re at work (or grabbing an ice-cream!)

Will this bike rust?

Heck no! The great thing about Aluminum frames is that they can’t rust.

The wheels are quick release, how do I prevent theft?

Alas, most bikes sold in North America assume that you will someday put your bike into a car, which means you need to rapidly disassemble it. If your bike is your car, then you’re often left wondering why the wheels are so easy to steal. We recommend bolting the wheels on with a wheel lock system, either from Pinhead (which feature unique keys) or 49N (which use a non-standard tool).

How do I ensure my new bike won’t get stolen?

Estimates are that over 90% of bicycle theft is tied to cash-for-drugs and this (unfortunately) makes every bike a target. Make sure you buy a good U-lock or a chain and your bike will be safe. You can read more about bike theft here.

What’s the warranty?

Lifetime warranty for manufacturer defects on frame and fork, one year on parts. Does not include wear and tear.
